In February 2009 Clinton Lank, Executive Director of Groundwork Providence passed away following a difficult illness.

The board and staff of Groundwork Providence are eternally grateful to Clint for his years of service and his unswerving commitment to build a better environment for all Rhode Islanders.

Our Programs:

Green Teams: Groundwork Providence's Green Team Program provides youth development and employment opportunities for high school students in inner-city areas of Providence. Each Green Team is comprised of six to eight members between the ages of 14 to 17 years. These students are hired for an eight week period to participate in environmental education programs, community service projects, and cultural activities. The goal of the Green Team Program is to foster the personal growth of each team member by enabling them to be positive and proactive role models within their own communities.

Green Collar Job Training: Groundwork Providence's Adult Environmental Job Training Program targets individuals who live in communities impacted by environmental degradation as well as the under-employed and the unemployed. The curriculum for the training program has been designed to offer participants in-depth and comprehensive training which will provide each student with the skills to join the workforce in such industries as sustainable landscaping and green building technologies. Additional support services include job development and placement assistance, ongoing case management and referrals for basic skills training such as math and English.

Tree

Trees2020: Trees 2020 is a new initiative by Groundwork Providence and the City of Providence to plant 40,000 trees by the year 2020. To achieve this ambitious goal, GWP is building partnerships with the private sector, the City of Providence and neighborhood organizations.
